The Krinyi (KREEN-yee), also called the krin (KREEN), is a type of log drum that originates from the forest region of southeastern Guinea, and consists of a hollowed-out section of tree trunk. The main opening and two side slits create two bands of varying pitch. It is played with two wooden sticks and produces a variety of tones depending upon where it is struck.
